so good together

Oh look, it's friday again! How did that happen? If you were thinking of going out in search of a Valentine's Card this weekend then add some extra pennies into the gift pot and print this free downloadable card instead. It couldn't be much simpler and you end up with a hand finished card all packaged up with lots of love.

For the card you'll need...

To make...

  1. Download your card here and print onto A4 card
  2. Cut out/ or scalpel according to the markers
  3. Score to fold in half neatly

For the envelope you'll need...

To make...

  1. Download the envelope here and print. You will need a printer that can print A3 for this, in order to accommodate the card size.
  2. Cut of scalpel around the edges and then score following the guide.
  3. Fold and secure with your glue or tape. You can use a dot of glue or tape to fix it shut or alternatively use a sticker of some sort.

full of love

Hi! Sorry for my absence in blogland. There's been a whole lot going on and changes brewing which have left me little head space for much else. To my surprise January whizzed past, turning into one big rainy blur. Now suddenly it's February and nearly Valentine's and I went to get in quickly and share this simple little DIY with you.
All you need to make your little jar of love is...
  • downloadable labels
  • A small jar
  • A4 paper or inkjet sticker paper
  • Scissors
  • Heart shaped sweets

To make...

  1. Start by downloading your free printable sheet of labels. You can either print this onto paper and glue your labels onto the jar or you can print them onto inkjet sticker paper, which is a little easier.
  2. Choose a heart size that works with your jar and draw a circle on top of the heart pattern to cut out and use for the lid. Stick them on.
  3. Then fill your heart with sweets. I used heart shaped Haribos but it would work just as well with heart shaped chocolates.

And there you have a Valentine's gift you could probably rustle up in your sleep!

cookie?

I've been waiting for an opportunity to use this Birthday gift ever since June. My mum bought me this cookie cutter with interchangeable letters. Now it might sound lame but this was definitely one of my favourite birthday presents. Anyway I ditched the cutter from the packet and used a heart one instead, stamping niceties into the biscuit dough, packaged them up and voila, homemade Valentine's love hearts for the hubbie!

I'm not entirely sure where this cutter stamp is from but it's certainly not from England as I can't understand a word on the packaging! I did however found some similar things here if you fancy having a go.

valentine's day comes late

Life has seemed pretty non-stop busy recently, which is possibly why I ended up rundown and nursing a yucky cold this week. Nick and I decided to do Valentines day on Saturday rather than Thursday which was a brilliant idea! Pancake day had also been a no show as Mr Cold had me wiped out and asleep on the sofa by 8pm. It seemed to make perfect sense to combine the two celebrations, the outcome being Valentine's Day pancake brunch...win, win!
I decided to do something a little different so it was raspberry pancakes, along with caramelised banana pancakes on the menu. The rest of the day was spent reading the Bible together, aimlessly wondering along Chiswick high street, lunching in a sweet little cafe, a candlelit dinner and a movie. It was the lovliest, chilled out day I've had in a long time and the fact it was with Nick made it even better.

just because i like you

Valentines Day is lovely and all that but it’s nice to give a card to the person you love at any point in the year, just to let them know they’re your very favourite. Here are a few I created for inspiration.

alright treacle?!

So it’s a little late but here are the Valentines goodies I made for... well Valentine's day of course. I decided to make Nick a three course meal in the evening. Any excuse to cook something delicious and make everything look pretty!
I bought some cute dishes from Poundland (bargain!) to cook the treacle tarts in. I have to say they seemed a lot smaller on first glance in the shop. Once we got down to eating the tarts we realised the size was a little more substantial than we’d bargained for, resulting in very full bellies.
Here is the treacle tart recipe I used. The addition of slightly more lemon than I’ve used in the past made for a fresher taste. Yum!
