so that was june...

From top left...
*Thoroughly enjoying these colourful doors just down my street. I walk past them everyday but only noticed them last week.
*A bunch of flowers from our neighbours, handpicked from their back garden brightened up our house for a week. Who said neighbourly spirit didn't exist in London?
*A Birthday trip to London Zoo. My enthusiasm over getting to meet Madagascar's King Julien & Maurice in person (or lemur) seemed to embarrass Nick somewhat.
*Birthday presents! Nick added to my ever expanding collection of Oliver Jeffers books along with 'I want my hat back' by Jon Klassen.
*Summer is here! There was more than enough sticky humidity to go round but the sun was out and I was smiling.
*I've been beavering away on all the styling details left for the wedding I'm helping out with. 3 weeks to go!

so that was march...

From top right...
*I spent a lot of time going back to my surface pattern roots and ink & felt tips were my materials of choice.
*A wet but fun day trip to Hackney City Farm; a surreal experience I'd recommend.
*My Mum in Law always buys me the most lovely flowers.
*Nick's Birthday made it very necessary to make a monster cake.
*This cute little chicken hut made me chuckle, although I think it promised more than it delivered
*RIP my favourite brown boots. After only 9 sweet months together I well and truly broke them. On the up side it meant I got these very yummy replacements.
*It was a happy moment when I realised my nail polish collection made a rainbow.
*My favourite building on my way down to Shepherd's Bush green. I love, love, love the retro typography!

happy but naughty

This is a pretty random post for Good Friday but it was ready to go and who knows, you might be looking to bake some treats with the extra time you have over the long weekend. It was Nick's Birthday on Monday and therefore time to bake something a little bit extravagant. This peanut butter & salted caramel mountain is pretty much a heart attack in a cake but I'm not sure Birthdays are about doing anything by halves! If you want to give it ago then find the recipe here. Luckily our church family very helpful demolished the left overs. This is not a cake for 2 people!

happy birthday mr muncey

oh i do like to be beside the seaside...

I recently celebrated my 25th Birthday. I had such a smiley weekend and was 100% spoilt on the present front. Nick also took me for a day trip to Brighton, a place I always love visiting. It's a town full of creativity and when the sun's shining it's so nice to be by the sea. There's so many cute little eateries and cake shops and rows of artists displaying their work along the sea front. I thoroughly enjoyed the antiques warehouse we found just off the Lanes. It was like a treasure trove that seemed to go on and on and on. Accidental discoveries are often the best. Here's our trip in Instagrams...
Nick also made me the most delicious Birthday cake I've ever had the pleasure of eating. Anyone who knows me will be aware that I think peanut butter chocolate is kind of a big deal. Nick decided to go one better and make me a peanut butter chocolate cheesecake! ...a genius idea which outdid any cheesecake I've ever made. He can make dessert from now on.
